The Humane Society of Wilkes does not own or run the Wilkes County Animal Shelter.

These cats are available for adoption at Wilkes County Animal Shelter at 408 Call Street, Wilkesboro, NC, (336) 903-7688. If you are interested in a particular cat you see on this page, please call the shelter to determine if it is still there before you go. If you are looking for a cat that may have been turned in as a stray, please visit or call the shelter regularly. This webpage does not post photographs of the stray cats being held in quarantine. Shelter Adoption Information

The shelter's hours of operation are 10:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. Monday-Friday, and 10:30 a.m. to noon on Saturday. The adoption fee is $75.00, or $50.00 if the cat is already spayed or neutered.

This fee pays for the following:

Physical examination
A check for worms and routine deworming for hookworms and roundworms
The first in a series of feline distemper and upper respiratory vaccines.
Rabies vaccine at 4 months
Spay or Neuter at 4-6 months
Other services are recommended and should be discussed with your veterinarian at the first visit.
